Why did we start ProofHQ?
Because we wanted one!
Mat had previously founded a software company helping companies streamline their
marketing processes and Colin had founded a software company specializing in pre-press and PDF workflow.
Mat had managed marketing and PR and Colin had created dozens of websites for clients.
We both suffered the frustration of getting work reviewed and approved by colleagues and clients and
thought we could build a solution to make that process easier.
We believed that the proofing and approval process was one of the most common activities in business,
yet one of the most un-automated. Lots of tools existed to mark-up documents, including native mark-up tools in Word and PDF,
but there was very little to streamline the workflow around the proofing process.
Enterprise applications did exist, but these were all very expensive and required systems integration and custom development.
We thought that there was a great opportunity for a simple, but powerful web-based proofing application.
Based on our experience in marketing, we initially thought that ProofHQ would be used
exclusively by marketing professionals.
However, once we started talking about ProofHQ to potential customers, it became clear that we would find adoption in many other sectors as well.
Our objective
Our objective is to create a proofing and approval tool that is as easy to use as email,
but provides much better tracking and workflow.
We have started by providing basic commenting tools and will add further features based on your feedback and use of ProofHQ.
