Upgrades to the proof page
We have just released some important upgrades to the proof page in ProofHQ.These make a significant difference to the usability of the proof page.
Making and Deleting Comments
We have added labels to the drawing tools so that reviewers can easily see what each tool does. We have also added a more obvious “Delete” icon for deleting mark-ups.
When you double-click on the proof a new comment opens and you can add a mark-up immediately. Previously double-click was used to zoom (see below for how we have changed zoom controls).When you add a mark-up, the new mark-up will stay in edit mode until you add another mark-up or type your comment. This makes it easy to edit a mark-up and easy to add multiple mark-ups.We have added a delete button to mark-ups when they are in edit mode.
You can now use the “Delete” key on your keyboard to delete a mark-up in edit mode.You can now use the “undo” shortcut on your keyboard (Ctrl Z or Apple Z) to undo recent mark-ups. This includes resizing, moving and erasing new mark-ups.
Zooming
To zoom-in you now click “Ctrl” on your keyboard and the cursor will change to a zoom-in icon. Left-click your mouse to zoom-in.To zoom-out you now click “Ctrl + Shift” on your keyboard and the cursor will change to a zoom-out icon. Left-click your mouse to zoom-out.You can also use the zoom icon in the footer. Click the icon to zoom-in and left click your mouse to zoom-in. Click the icon plus the “shift” key on your keyboard to zoom-out.
Versions
The versions button in the header now opens versions in the tools ribbon.Click on a version to change the version displayed in the proof page.Click on “New Version” to upload a new version of the proof.
Comparing Versions
When you are in the “compare” view with two versions displayed side-by-side, you can change which version appears in either panel by clicking the versions button at the top of each panel. This will open a tools ribbon displaying all versions. Click on the version that you want to display in that panel.By default compare mode will show the latest version on the left and the next oldest version on the right.You can add comments to either version as long as they are not locked.
Workspaces
We have made it easier to open another proof in the same workspace. Workspaces items are listed in the sidebar.We have created a new thumbnail view of workspaces items which opens in a pop-up window.We are still not 100% happy with the way that you can access other items in the workspace, so will be looking more at usability in this area.
Pagination
We have created a new page navigation icon and moved it to the left of the pagination tools.
We have also changed the layout of the page thumbnails. They now appear in a single ribbon along the bottom of the page.
Simpler layout for guest reviewers
As always we try and make things as simple as possible for your guest reviewers.To do this we have now hidden any fucntion that a reviewer does not have permission to use.
New “Actions” menus
We have added actions menus to many parts of the proof page. These give you quick access to the functions that relate to that part of the proof.For example, for each reviewer we have added an actions menu that lets you:
- Remind reviewer
- Edit reviewer details
- Remove reviewer
For Stages you can:
- Remind all
- Edit Stage
- Remove stage
For workspaces you can
- Go to workspace details
- add a New proof to the workspace
- add a New file share to the workspace
- create a new sub-workspace
Context menu
We have updated the context menu (right click with your mouse). You have easy access:
- New comment
- Zoom tools
- Showing and hiding mark-ups
